A day without laughter is a day wasted.

They’re not kidding when they say laughter is contagious. Just think back to the last time you really laughed. No, a quiet chuckle under your breath doesn’t qualify; I’m talking about real deep-in-the-gut laughter that makes you forget about all the lousy things going on in your life. The kind of laughter that for an instant makes everything seem simple and carefree. When was the last time you experienced a natural high like that?

Man is distinguished from all other creatures by the faculty of laughter.
Laughter is the ultimate escape from the high-drama, success-driven world in which we live. Once you experience the overwhelming positive effects of true, spontaneous laughter, you will begin to seek it out daily. It only takes once or twice to get hooked. You will crave laughter. You will become addicted to it. Pretty soon, you will rearrange your day to be around people who enable you to experience it. Laughter will become the drug that gets you through your day – and that’s a good thing!

A good time to laugh is any time you can.

Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers. And once you find laughter, no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it.

So go ahead, let yourself laugh. Do this as often as possible. Laughing regularly will not only relieve stress; it will also keep you in the moment, a state in which worries about the past or future can’t weigh you down. Laughing is therapeutic, energizing and absolutely crucial to being a positive person. It’s the most effective happiness drug out there. Just open out your cover of shyness and be your self. Laugh out loud and make others laugh.

LNMIIT IS TOBACCO FREE……..REALLY???

The year 2011, LNMIIT witnessed a numerous changes in the campus from new hostels to lecture halls, from faculty to students and many more but the most appealing was making campus tobacco free. The anti-tobacco sessions were conducted including the implementation of posters on major areas of concern in the campus, boasting and consoling our minds that the revolution will bring a change. These claims invariably proved wrong and people take pride to be an offender time to time.

The problem is not quite as simple as it would be as typical law enforcer takes privilege of imposing fines on students. The students possibly might not be responsible for spoiling the environment of the campus and indulging themselves in accidents, mishap happened in the campus. The guards, workmen and drivers are often seen smoking with their so called “cigarette” in the campus. Why they do not attract the attention of the authorities in campus? If the rules are made then they must be same for each and every member on the campus.

There is no question that smoking is addictive. However not everyone is affected the same way. Some people are never able to kick the habit while others seem to be able to quit on a whim. At college level nobody is kid who can’t make a judgement whether the thing is right or wrong as the person is mature enough to make decisions on his own. It is not a major concern about our college but also for the other colleges including the prestigious institutes like IITs and NITs where the students involve themselves in these activities. Why these colleges do not reveal the consciousness about the smoking activities thus allowing student to pursue their interest rather concerning about the health. By this we show an awkward example to society about the college that here at LNMIIT rules are formed to be broken and people pursue these activities duty unto death.

In my point of view prohibition can be useful only if its implementation is made possible but since that cannot be achieved, we can leave thinking of prohibition, and social awareness of evils of this addiction should be spread. This may possibly lead to people leaving the evil themselves. If the authorities are implementing the rules then measures should be taken to adhere to the laws rather than simply executing on papers.

‘ COMPLACENCY ’ THE PARAMOUNT INDIAN POLICY

India presents itself on the world Stage as a Nation which has produced quite a number of capable minds, eggheads and Pundits. And as an enlighten Indian, I find myself filled with extreme pride when i encounter all such stuffs.

But this particular notion remains just a fact in the world of abstract theories. Because when we try and relate this concept to the series of events happening around us we actually end up finding that INDIANS are still a Rookie, very unprofessional  and unskilled in their approach to tackle their problems. So The bottom line remains static and unaltered that INDIANS ARE STILL DEFICIENT , INELIGIBLE AND INCOMPETENT WHEN IT COMES TO ACHIEVING OR ORGANISING THE MEGA-EVENTS. Let it be the case of bridge collapse at the Commonwealth Games 2010 or the ‘DOG’ spotted  at The Buddha International Circuit during The Inaugral Indian F1 GP, 2011. The Authorities need to make a call at this. And this is not only confined to Performance of our Atheletes at Olympics or CWG, it has had its adverse aftermath on our Education System, Judiciary System, Election System, Medical Field, Technological Advancement and much more. All this is harming POSITION, DIGNITY and STATURE of India.

The undeniable fact is that our mentality is too polluted and we’re over dependent on the third person for sorting out our problems and then defining a clear layout descrbing the legitimate solution to it. Everyone follows the same orthodox and antique beliefs and there are  hardly few, who have got the guts to do the other way round. It is totally disgusting to see the pessimistic atmosphere prevailing in our country.

Everyone just keep criticising and interrogating the people at the hot seat, play the blame-game and also interfere if anyone tries to voice their opinion. All this is very dis-heartening and sad to know.

Indian Atheltes lack the killer instinct, determination and never back down sort of frame of Mind. That’s why I guess we’re witnessing this transition towards the foreign coaches for our Atheletes. For real the problem is the inadequate and unordered planning, which we need to analyse.  The Indian Politician don’t have the ability, attitude and the dimension of a true Leader, who can persuade the masses of the Nation just by uttering few magical words.
Satisfaction of their vested interest and having a realxed life routine is the top priority of every Indian. We all believe in easy going life style. No one wants to rebel against the current trend.

And even if someone does stands against the system then the common view of people is ‘he’s an idiot’ or something similar.
Even though it is hard to accept but the most bulky and considerable reason for our impotency and inproficiency is our Complacent nature. Indians act only when the 11th hour arrives. We need a proper vision and positive approach to fight against all odds.

We are the second most populated country of the world. Its not our weakness, rather its our strength. The only thing we need is ‘to believe’ and join hands together to ‘break the habit’.

Finally I sign off illustrating
The Greatest Obstacle to those who hope to reform India is COMPLACENCY.

What Young India Wants?

Chetan Bhagat’s new book is now available at the bookstores. This one is different from the usual pulp fiction novels. It’s a collection of some selected articles about the Young Guns of India. The name itself is quite inspiring and awakening. But, it also raises another question, what does the Author mean by “Young India”? Who is young and who is not, how to make this decision?

A man in his early twenties sitting in his hostel room and watching some action packed thriller Hollywood movie or listening to metal gods. Is he young or a man who in his late seventies is fasting and struggling for the betterment of the country? Who gets to become the youth icon, A man who is just promoting himself using his family’s political back-ground or a man who gave up a high profile government job to give true service to the citizens of this nation?

Young by thoughts and spirit not by age, this is what Young India dream of. We are the future of this country; we are the force that will drive this country. But, what are our thoughts? A job with a six figures salary, a nice apartment and some day a beautiful and loving partner. This is what Young India wants in reality. There is only one-minute difference between a dream and reality. One minute that is needed to wake up after sleep. One minute and reality hits.

As the president of our nation Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam gave “VISION 2020”. We are just 8 years away from that mark and where do we stand. 20-20 for us is just a fast and glamorous form of an absurd game played with a shaped wooden log and a hard ball. Let me brighten you up in case you forgot that this is the same log that Indian women use in doing laundry.

This is the time to rise, rise above the level of self-preservement. Swami Dayanand gave 10 rules of Arya Samaj, and one of the rule states, “Good of the individual lies in the Good of ALL.”  We are educated fellows of India; our nation has done a lot for us (maybe you won’t realize this but, give it a thought, our mother land is the only reason for our success and yes don’t count yourselves unsuccessful). It’s time to pay back!!!

What happened to the rejected lot?

In India IIT’s are looked upon as the beacon of excellence, the triumph of hope, the sacrosanct temples of science and technology. Every year more than 5 lakh aspirants coerce to get in these temples, but after rigorous preparation of years, decision is based on one six hour examination i.e IIT-JEE, perhaps the only exam where first you have to clear tests to get paid coaching to prepare for the exam. If you crack JEE, you are pundit of the temple and rest all are untouchables.

Nobody cares about the mass that missed IIT by few marks, no matter 5 or 2, you are just not selected. Everyone talks about toppers, but where are the pupils who also fought to get in, no one cares about them. Students renounce their homes just after passing 10th class to get into IITs, their parents invest huge amount of money to see their child hitting the clout, laden with hopes and aspirations, one starts preparing for that day. All sports, fun and the frolics are relics. He is alienated from the outer world. Some of the students pre-realize that IIT is not their game. Some of them don’t even know why they want to be an engineer? Why is getting that tag so important for them? Leaving these doubts safe in their brains many keep on fighting. Two percent of them make it and others confront their first rejection. This saga is true for any other examination but what’s so special about IIT-JEE? What makes it different? What makes it so sacred?

One of the major reasons that I feel behind considering this exam so tough is that the quality of the aspirants and the complexity of coaching, the mental agitation one goes through while preparing for it. More importantly, they don’t even test you much on your knowledge, you may have all the knowledge about a reaction of chemistry, its usage, its process and all other various parameters but what they demand from you is aptitude, you can be a professor of that subject but you still can be wrong while solving that question in limited time. The average age of the aspirants is just 18, this major setback at 18, leaves student bereft of hope and his faith in hard work is completely shattered. Many take this as the end of life. There is no research or data available about the no. of people who commit suicide after JEE. Many require years to come out of the depression and some of them even develop a sub-conscious fear of fighting competition. Killing a potential talent at the age 18, isn’t it a crime? Who are the culprits? IITs? Coaching factories? Parents? Society? Who is to blame? Whoever it may be, but before we decide, we already lost a talented chap.

Those of who don’t commit suicide are vulnerable to smoking and crapulence. Self esteems are at new low. The cases of delirium and hidden phobias are innumerable. Sometimes I wonder how can one single exam, one single day, exactly not even a day, just six hours decide so much of someone’s life. Why put so much pressure on everyone? Pressurized students, pressurized parents, teachers, siblings, so much of hoopla over an exam in the nation where 35 % of the population is not able to read and write.

The major concern should not be method of intake but it should be on incremental value of IITs. What they add to the student? Concern should be pedagogy post JEE not pre JEE. An institute is not known by its bachelor’s degree but from the quality of post graduation and research inside it. M.tech and M.S students are least talked about, while they are the real backbones. When you actually try to search IITs on the world level, we are nowhere as compared to the premier world level institutes. We only take pride in the fact that we select one out of hundred. Come on!! We are not even sure that we did it rightly or not?

Success stories that allure almost everyone are even apocryphal. Only few get lucrative packages and the rest of them settle down on an average job. I don’t want to question sanctity of IITs but just want to broach the point that IITs are not the end of life. As said by Robert frost “Life goes on”, things definitely go wrong, many times you feel dejected, rejected and forsaken but nothing marks the end of life and whatever you call it JEE or ISEET, it’s not going to be an exception.
