What Young India Wants?

Chetan Bhagat’s new book is now available at the bookstores. This one is different from the usual pulp fiction novels. It’s a collection of some selected articles about the Young Guns of India. The name itself is quite inspiring and awakening. But, it also raises another question, what does the Author mean by “Young India”? Who is young and who is not, how to make this decision?

A man in his early twenties sitting in his hostel room and watching some action packed thriller Hollywood movie or listening to metal gods. Is he young or a man who in his late seventies is fasting and struggling for the betterment of the country? Who gets to become the youth icon, A man who is just promoting himself using his family’s political back-ground or a man who gave up a high profile government job to give true service to the citizens of this nation?

Young by thoughts and spirit not by age, this is what Young India dream of. We are the future of this country; we are the force that will drive this country. But, what are our thoughts? A job with a six figures salary, a nice apartment and some day a beautiful and loving partner. This is what Young India wants in reality. There is only one-minute difference between a dream and reality. One minute that is needed to wake up after sleep. One minute and reality hits.

As the president of our nation Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam gave “VISION 2020”. We are just 8 years away from that mark and where do we stand. 20-20 for us is just a fast and glamorous form of an absurd game played with a shaped wooden log and a hard ball. Let me brighten you up in case you forgot that this is the same log that Indian women use in doing laundry.

This is the time to rise, rise above the level of self-preservement. Swami Dayanand gave 10 rules of Arya Samaj, and one of the rule states, “Good of the individual lies in the Good of ALL.”  We are educated fellows of India; our nation has done a lot for us (maybe you won’t realize this but, give it a thought, our mother land is the only reason for our success and yes don’t count yourselves unsuccessful). It’s time to pay back!!!
